Seeraga Samba, small grain rice that takes its name from jeera ( Cumin ) (seeragam in Tamil), samba does not refer to the Brazilian dance, but instead to the season (typically August to January when it is grown). This small grain rice was used traditionally for biryani in south India it might have a lower yield than most modern rice variety but Seeraga Samba fetches a higher price than all other varieties of rice from in south India.
